My new favourite screenwriting app
I love this screenwriting app and it is now my favourite. Ive tried almost all the others out there, from the well-entrenched usual suspects to the newer contenders that use Fountain. The other Fountain screenwriting apps are indeed pretty cool, but for me personally, this app better implements the idea of Fountain screenwriting and also expands on the other apps in terms of features. I think this is the best of the bunch because of its clean and intuitive presentation of both outline elements and screenplay elements. I love that I never really need to look at a "preview" of my screenplay, as the app interprets my fountain input and automatically formats it the way it will look in the screenplay, making a separate preview mode unecessary.
This app is really well suited to the way I work where Ill start with an outline of random scene stubs, organizing them vaguely into acts, and then add detailed notes describing what I think should go on in each scene. This app makes the transition from outline to a working screenplay more painless than any app Ive used. As the outlined ideas get fuller and more detailed, I start adding dialogue and scene descriptions, sluglines, etc into to the document and the app draws a kind of screenplay page formatting around those snippets to visually distinguish between your outline notes and your screenplay. Its really nice to watch the screenplay take shape from the outline without having to refer to a separate window.
I also get the impression that the developer is actively working to improve and expand the apps features to further distinguish it from existing Fountain screenwriting apps that may not be quite as actively developed, either by choice or by circumstance.
